2/4 Rhythms
2/4 rhythms are usually played fast. With such few counts to use, many of them have the doums in the same position (ie Ayoub and Fallahi). So it becomes important to pay attention to the positioning of the rest of the drum strokes.
Ayoub (2/4)
Ayoub is also known as Zar. You will often find ayoub starting slow and speeding up as the song progresses. Click below to hear a sample of ayoub. You can purchase the full track from Amazon. I often use this song for 3/4 shimmy drills.
Malfuf (2/4)
Malfuf is a fast rhythm often used for entrances and for traveling. Click below to hear a sample of Malfuf. You can purchase the full track from Amazon.
Malfuf is often played as an 8/4 rhythm using the variation below. Listen to the above track again and pay attention to the alternate version played every 4th repetition of the rhythm.
Fallahi (2/4)
Fallahi is like you took the skeletal form of Maqsoum and sped it up to a 2/4 rhythm.
